Enemy From Breath Of The Wild's Latest DLC Has An Interesting Weakness

by Suriel Vazquez on Dec 16, 2017 at 05:00 PM

Spoilers for The Legends of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's Champions' Ballad DLC follow.

I generally enjoyed Breath of the Wild's Champions' Ballad DLC. One of the fun things about the DLC is that we get a see a new boss (after re-fighting four from the base game), Monk Maz Koshia, who's got a few tricks of their sleeve. However, Link can employ at least one trick of his own during the fight: distracting Maz Koshia with bananas.

As shown in the clip below, if Link drops several bananas on the floor during the initial phase of the fight, Maz Koshia will be temporarily forced to run over to them, leaving them open to attack.

This trick also works a bit of worldbuilding. Maz Koshia is a member of the Sheikah tribe, part of which spun off to form the Yiga after Calamity Ganon appeared. In the base game, members of the Yiga Clan tend of have bananas on their person when killed, so seeing a member of Sheikah tribe have a similar obsession with the fruit means the banana craze wasn't something the Yiga picked up after their split, but rather an inherited quirk.
