Zavala And Cayde Trade Bars In A Destiny 2 Rap Battle

by Cody Mello-Klein on Dec 08, 2017 at 01:30 PM

Fan-made rap battles are often pretty cringe-worthy, trading the creativity or energy of actual hip hop for sub-par bars and easy pop culture references. That's what makes this fan-made Destiny 2 rap battle from Dan Bull and Harry Partridge, which was named as Bungie's Movie of the Week in the developer's blog post this week, impressive.

Sure there are still plenty of cheesy puns and references to Destiny's universe in here, but the duo really capture the personality of Zavala and Cayde-6 both in their flows. Zavala, the steadfast and serious Titan, has a more measured, steady flow, while Cayde-6, the witty, roguish Hunter, has a more jittery, energetic flow that buts into Zavala's verses. The animation is fun and when the battle climaxes at the end with both characters rhyming together, it's hard not to get pumped.

Bull made a rap battle for the original Destiny back in 2014 as well, but this video is his first team-up with web filmmaker Partridge.
