New Dragon's Crown Pro Videos Emerge Alongside Rumors Of Western Release

by Keenan McCall on Nov 17, 2017 at 01:03 PM

The latest trailers show the Elf from Dragon's Crown Pro in action along with footage of the Digital Game Book, though whispers of other announcements are on the winds.

In the newest Japanese character trailer released by Atlus and Vanillaware, viewers get a glimpse of the Elf in action. Armed with a bow and wind magic, she darts across the battlefield to provide ranged attacks and group suppression from above and below against enemies, defending with melee attacks should they get too close. A video detailing the title's Digital Game Book was also released. Available with the Japanese launch edition, it incorporates elements from the game into a Choose Your Own Adventure story for players to take part in.

In addition to these videos, rumors have started to circulate about a possible Western localization and release of the game. In Sony's listing for this year's featured games at PlayStation Experience, Dragon's Crown pro was briefly listed before being taken down.

Dragon's Crown originally released on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita on August 6, 2013 in North America. Touted as a multiplayer action RPG beat-em-up, the game was generally well-received for its art style and gameplay. The game's developer Vanillaware recently remastered another of its earlier titles, Odin Sphere, on PlayStation 4 as well, which released June 2016 in North America.

Dragon's Crown Pro launches on the PlayStation 4 Pro in Japan on February 8, 2018.

Our Take
While it would be great to see a localization of Dragon's Crown Pro, the rumors of its localization are just that. Neither Sony nor Atlus have since addressed the brief posting, so it very well could have just been a mistake. Hopefully the PlayStation Experience will settle the matter come early December.
