Russia Used Screenshots Of Mobile Game To Prove U.S. Collusion With ISIS

by Imran Khan on Nov 15, 2017 at 06:21 PM

On November 14, the Russian Ministry of Defense littered its social media with pictures of what it claimed was "irrefutable evidence" that the U.S. had been colluding with ISIS in Syria, which was then proven to be a screenshot from mobile game AC-130 Gunship Simulator: Special Ops Squadron.

The tweets, which have since been deleted, showed what seemed to be satellite images of trucks traveling down a desert road, which Russian intelligence claimed were ISIS soldiers leaving a town with U.S.-provided supplies. Within hours, people noticed the similarities to a AC-130's trailer, though the image posted by Russian intelligence had been blurred and removed identifying markers by cropping them off the bottom.

The pictures were later replaced with different pictures without any explanation.

The studio behind the game, Byte Converter Studios, could not be reached for comment.

Our Take
If Russia needs any suggestions, I feel like Front Mission would also be a good game to screencap. Then we might get mechs sometime soon.
