Pokémon Ultra Sun And Ultra Moon Trailer Introduces Team Rainbow Rocket

by Keenan McCall on Nov 02, 2017 at 12:12 PM

Villains and legendaries from across the history of the franchise come together in the upcoming sequel.

In a new trailer posted by The Official Pokémon Company, villains from every Pokémon generation come together under the banner of Team Rainbow Rocket, the bigger and badder reincarnation of the Kanto region's main antagonists. Boasting the support of every evil team leader across 20 years of games and led by Giovanni himself, the new organization is bent on carrying out their evil plans for the Alola region, and only the player has a chance of stopping them.

In addition, the trailer shows a slew of other features coming to the game. This includes legendaries from every generation which can be caught beyond the Ultra Wormhole, some even boasting mega transformations. Totem stickers can be collected to obtain totem versions of Pokémon as well, and a refined battle agency will offer a twist on regular and competitive battles.

To see everything in action before the game's November 17 release, check out the trailer below.

If that doesn't scratch your Pokémon itch, dive into a few of Game Informer's recent features covering how Game Freak designs its iconic Pokémon, the developers' thoughts on player freedom versus story-driven gameplay, and one of the most challenging entries in the series to create.

Our Take
There's nothing like nostalgia to bring old fans back into the fold, and Game Freak is putting on the full court press with this latest announcement. The only question now is whether or not it'll make sense to have all of these villains united under one flag, what with a few trying to destroy the world with Pokémon while the others wanted to use them to rule over it.
