2013's Papers Please made a riveting game out of authoritarianism, paranoid nationalism, and bureaucracy. As an immigration inspector for the nation of Arstrotzka, you checked everyone's papers at the border, choosing who you'd let in or out of the country based on their documentation and other telltale signs. If you think that sounds like a great premise for a short film as well as a game, you're in luck.

Filmmaker Nikita Ordynskiy, along with Papers, Please creator Lucas Pope, have released a trailer for Papers, Please, an independent short film based on the game. The trailer, which stars Igor Savochkin as the immigration inspector, tells a similar story to the games, one in which someone must examine artifacts chronicling the lives of hopeful immigrants to Arstrotzka and decide whether to let them. If the final product is as suspenseful as the game (or the trailer), it'll be a treat.
