Hellblade Sales On October 10 To Benefit Mental Health Charity

by Matt Miller on Oct 09, 2017 at 05:43 PM

Ninja Theory today tweeted its plans for World Mental Health Day, which is tomorrow, October 10. All proceeds from purchases of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice that are made on October 10 will go to Rethink Mental Illness, an organization devoted to improving the lives of those affected by mental illness.

The choice of charity is certainly tied to the themes and storytelling of Hellblade, which focuses on a main character struggling with issues of psychosis.

Along with the charity announcement, Ninja Theory also released a powerful new video connected to the game. Images included in the video are captured from the photo mode within Hellblade, and the dozens of quotes within the video are real messages received by the team, related to the way that Hellblade affected their lives, providing an avenue to understand and articulate issues of mental illness.

Our Take
Viewing the poignant messages that are part of the above video, it’s clear that Ninja Theory’s latest game clearly had a profound effect on some of its players. If you were waiting for a chance to pick up Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, it certainly seems like October 10 would be a good time to do so.
