Obsidian Entertainment Co-founder Chris Avellone Teasing Something Fallout-related

by Kyle Hilliard on Oct 05, 2017 at 12:32 PM

Chris Avellone, who contributed to Fallout 2 and co-founded Obsidian which developed New Vegas, is teasing something related to the post-apocalypse franchise on Facebook.

Avellone left Obsidian in 2015 and currently works with Larian Studios, the studio behind Divinity: Original Sin and its fantastic sequel. The post in question is on Avellone's Facebook page where he changed his profile picture to a drawing of Vault Boy hugging a stick figure who is saying, "I missed you so much."

Avellone and Larian's future is currently undetermined. The unconfirmed assumption from many is that its next step is to bring Divinity: Original Sin II to consoles, but after the game's positive reception, it's also possible the studio could start working on Original Sin III.

Our Take
The exciting implication is that Avellone is returning to the Fallout franchise, and maybe Larian is working on something related to Fallout. It could mean anything, though. Larian just shipped Divinity: Original Sin II, so maybe Avellone is taking some well-earned time off and is playing Fallout 4. I prefer to live in a world where the first assumption is the true one, but only time will tell.
