Andrew House, the president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, has stepped down from his post, ending a 27 year run at Sony.
House started at Sony in 1990, helping to usher in the popularity of the PlayStation brand throughout his tenure. House became co-CEO of SIE, and eventually sole CEO when Kazuo Hirai got promoted to the head of the company in 2011, overseeing the PlayStation 4's meteoric rise over the last few years.
Fans might best remember House from his E3 appearances, often coming out to explain the newest PlayStation initiative or feature to the crowd. When Sony released a video announcing that Kojima was partnering exclusively with Sony on a new game, House was the talk of online communities for his introduction in stunningly natural Japanese. House is remaining a chairman until the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition, but his deputy president John Kodera will be succeeding him at SIE.
