Earlier today, developers of Yooka-Laylee Playtonic, released a Kickstarter backer update to give more details about the upcoming Switch version, and the issues with Unity that are keeping it in development.

The update explains that the game, which was made in Unity, is taking longer to come out than expected because of an issue that required the newer version of the engine. While the new revision is already out, it also introduced other issues that now need to get stamped out. As such, Playtonic isn't completely sure when the game will be able to be released. The update also contains a video of current Switch port progress.

Similarly, a few days ago, Airship Syndicate posted an update on their Kickstarter for Battle Chasers: Night War indicating that the Switch version has been delayed until a Unity update comes out that also solves their issues with development, of which there is no definite timeline. We posted a story in early August where Airship Syndicate did not seem entirely sure when the Switch version would come and are seemingly less sure now.

Yooka-Laylee is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Battle Chasers: Nightwar is scheduled to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac on October 3.

Our Take
Unity issues seem to be plaguing the Switch, despite Nintendo's progress with a lot of other popular engines. Hopefully it does not last too much longer and these games can come out with minimal issues.
