Better late than never, Ghost Recon Wildlands' competitive multiplayer mode is nearly ready for prime time. From September 21 to 25, players will get to experience the new 4v4 mode via brief beta ahead of the final release.

Called Ghost War, the PvP mode is a class-based deathmatch affair featuring 12 unique character archetypes. For the beta, players can use the Assault, Marksman, and Support roles. Unlike a lot of deathmatch games, Ghost War embraces large expanses. All five maps give players varied terrain and dynamic weather to use to their advantage and get the jump on the other squad.

Best of all, you don't need to own Ghost Recon Wildlands to check out the beta. It's free to download for everyone on PS4, Xbox One, and PC starting September 19. Ghost War will eventually launch as a free update to anyone who owns Wildlands, though Ubisoft hasn't announced a final date just yet.
