Lego Worlds Jumps The Shark In Switch-Edition Launch Trailer

by Jeff Cork on Sep 05, 2017 at 09:29 AM

Lego Worlds is out on Nintendo Switch today, and you can see how it looks in a new launch trailer. Zombies lose their heads, castle parties are crashed by marauding horses, and, yes, a minifig jumps a pair of titanic sharks while riding a shark. Of course!

If you're not familiar with Lego Worlds, it's an open-ended construction game based on the Lego toys. Warner's marketing department would probably bristle at the comparison, but think Minecraft, with both freeform and model-based building options.

The game is available in a retail release for $39.99, and its digital counterpart is priced at $29.99. To help alleviate the sting in price differences, players who pick up boxed copies can download the Classic Space and the upcoming Monsters DLC at no additional price. Players who opt for the digital version can download the packs for $3.99 each. It's a couple of bucks shy of completely making up for the price difference, but it's at least something.

Our Take
I saw the Switch version at Gamescom a few weeks ago, and it's a pretty slick port of the game. As with a lot of Switch games, I can see the appeal of being able to bounce between playing on the TV and going portable – especially if inspiration tends to sneak up on you while you're zoning out on a bus.
