Colin Trevorrow No Longer Directing Star Wars: Episode IX
Colin Trevorrow, the director of Jurassic World, Safety Not Guaranteed, and recently Book of Henry, is no longer directing Star Wars: Episode IX.
In August, it was revealed that Trevorrow's Episode IX script was being re-written by Jack Thorne, but today it appears a lot more is changing for the film. On Star Wars' website, the following brief statement was posted:
Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.
This is not the first director shake-up for the Star Wars film franchise as the Han Solo film recently changed directors, as well. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were replaced by Ron Howard. It is currently unclear who will be taking over director duties for Episode IX.
Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled for release on May 24, 2019 and it appears that date has not changed. Star Wars: Episode VII – The Last Jedi will release on December 15, 2017.
