Did You Know Gaming Gives A Behind The Scenes Look At Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle

by Elise Favis on Sep 03, 2017 at 02:20 PM

Ubisoft's Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle was met with both skepticism and surprise when it was announced, but now that it's out, many are enjoying this strategy-style crossover. YouTube channel Did You Know Gaming recently released a video that looks at the game's development, its influences, and how it came to be.

The video talks about the game's influences, which include Mario Kart, Worms, and unsurprisingly, XCOM. It also touches upon how Ubisoft and Nintendo hoped to preserve Mario's family-friendly image but needed to find a way to bring weapons and guns into the mix. They decided to use disproportional and unrealistic weapons to keep a cartoonish vibe. The team took influence from 1997's sci-fi film The Fifth Element for the design of the guns.
