Reader Discussion: How Do You Feel About The Recent Half-Life Story Revelations?

by Kyle Hilliard on Aug 26, 2017 at 05:01 PM

On Thursday, Half-Life writer Marc Laidlaw published an outline of sorts for what would have been the story of Half-Life 2: Episode 3. How do you feel about that?

You can find our thoughts here (or in the video embedded below), but to summarize, it's bittersweet. It's nice to get some closure on Half-Life's story, especially considering the alternative of not ever learning what was supposed to happen, but I really wish I could have played through it in video game form. That could be because Laidlaw's plot summary sounds awesome, and that I miss single-player Valve games, but I am a little saddened that the way I learn about the fate of Gordon and Alyx was from a blog post.

How do you feel about it? Are you happy to finally have a potential ending? Does it truly mean the end of new Half-Life games from Valve? I certainly hope not. Whether Valve executes on this outline, or just goes for something brand new, I would love to play a new Half-Life game some day.
