Back in the early days of the PlayStation 2, Rockstar published an action game called Smuggler's Run centered around smuggling cargo through hot zones in assorted vehicles. The game proved successful, earning a spot on the PS2 Greatest Hits roster. After Smuggler's Run sequel and the creation of Midnight Club, Take-Two acquired the developer, Angel Studios. Rebranded Rockstar San Diego, the studio continued to flourish with many more great Midnight Club installments and the best game of the last console generation, Red Dead Redemption. Rockstar pays homage to this history with the latest expansion coming to Grand Theft Auto Online, appropriately called Smuggler's Run.

Trevor's associate Nervous Ron wants to expand his smuggling empire, but to do so he needs your help. Smuggler's Run centers around air trafficking, introducing new planes, helicopters, and ultralights for you to transport contraband across Los Santos and Blaine County. These new aircraft are customizable, and new aircraft hangers give you a place to set up your latest criminal endeavor. Nervous Ron will show you the ropes, and a mechanic named Charlie will keep your aircraft in tip-top shape.

You can start smuggling come August 29. In addition to this expansion, Rockstar also plans to introduce races that transition from land, air, and sea seamlessly. As you cross a checkpoint, your vehicle will be transformed instantly to match the terrain ahead.
