Qualifiers For 2017 Nintendo World Championships Open Next Weekend

by Jeff Cork on Aug 08, 2017 at 10:17 AM

Video armageddon is fast approaching, with word that the qualifying rounds for Nintendo's 2017 World Championships are starting next weekend. The top players from eight locations across the U.S. will be able to compete in the October finals in New York.

Players from two age brackets (12 and younger, and 13 and older), can visit the participating Best Buy locations and test their skills at Mario Kart 7 3DS in time trials. The best times for each age group from each location will be invited to attend the championships.

The setups vary, depending on your bracket. Younger players will race as Mario on a standard kart with standard wheels and the super glider, on the Luigi's Mansion stage. Older players will race in Bowser Castle 1 as Bowser, with a standard kart, standard wheels, and the super glider.

Here are the cities and dates. For more information, including rules, specific event times, and details on how to register, check out the official site.
