The Evil Within 2 Expands On Player Choice And Freedom

by Imran Khan on Aug 03, 2017 at 01:22 PM

Bethesda has put up a blog post explaining how The Evil Within 2 will make good on promises made by the first game with regard to customization and player freedom.

In the original game, players were ostensibly given carte blanche to handle situations in any way they saw fit. Unfortunately, most levels were tackled in roughly the same way, not leaving much variance in play style. According to Bethesda, this takes a notable turn in the sequel, allowing players options for how they fight enemies, whether to fight or flee, whether the player wants to use traps as a primary method of defense, and more.

A full list of changes can be found on Bethesda's blog. The Evil Within 2 is scheduled to be released on Friday October 13 this year for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Horror luminary and director of the first game, Shinji Mikami, is executive producing this time around, with John Johnas taking the director role after making the previous game's two expansions.
