A Look At A Spider-Man: Homecoming Costume That Didn't Make The Cut

by Andrew Reiner on Jul 19, 2017 at 09:42 AM

Peter Parker wore different costumes throughout Spider-Man: Homecoming, and turned down the chance to wear another, but was never given the option to dawn a suit inspired by Marvel's Superior Spider-Man comic series. The option was on the table, says Ryan Meinerding, a concept artist and character designer for Marvel Studios. Meinerding shared the illustration (above) on Twitter, saying he did "a lot of designs" for the film, but this one didn't see production.

The proposed suit completely removed the iconic blue tones from the design, and almost looks like a mix between the traditional and and black suits Spider-Man has worn throughout the years. Although Homecoming's primary suit sticks to the red and blue conventions, it does feature more black than normal, perhaps showing the scrapped Superior suit inspired the final design a little.

Insomniac Games' design for Spider-Man adds more white to the mix, giving it an American Flag or Captain America-like appearance. Insomniac's Spider-Man game is slated to release in 2018. Take a new look at the making of the game here.
