The Full Launch Of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Has Been Delayed

by Douglas DeLong on Jul 07, 2017 at 12:13 PM

The creator of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds announced today that the full launch of the game has been delayed.

Playerunknown's Battlegrounds entered Early Access on Steam on March 23, and the plan was to have the game released in full within six months. Instead, there is now a projected launch window rather than a date; the full game should still be out sometime before the end of Q4 2017.

While this news may disappoint some, the delay comes with goodwill behind it. In an update announcement on Steam, creator Brendan Greene (who goes by the handle PlayerUnknown) said, "I’ve come to realize that restricting the window to a specific month could hinder us from delivering a fully featured game and/or lead to disappointment within the community if the launch deadline is not met." Greene goes on to pledge that the team will "continue to push weekly and monthly updates until full launch as we want to ensure the game we release is the best version possible."

Our Take
This news doesn't hit too hard because the game is already playable and a ton of fun. PlayerUnknown's team's plans to keep adding more content until launch are also encouraging, so as long as the game continues to improve I'm sure fans will remain happy.
