Ubisoft Reveals Skull & Bones, A New Pirate Game

by Joe Juba on Jun 12, 2017 at 03:44 PM

Players lived a pirate fantasy in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and Ubisoft is building on that foundation with an all-new game called Skull & Bones.

Though the setting and mechanics seem similar to Black Flag, Skull & Bones is unconnected to the Assassin's Creed series. Instead, it starts fresh in the Indian Ocean in the year 1721, during the Golden Age of Piracy. It is a tactical action game focused on naval combat, featuring a dynamic world that lets you play solo or with friends.

For example, one mode Ubisoft showcased is called Loot Hunt, which pits two teams of five players against each other. Using the winds for proper positioning and strategic combinations of ship classes and weapons, you attempt to out-think and out-maneuver your competition.

Skull & Bones is being developed at Ubisoft Singapore, and is coming fall 2018.
