The Pokémon Company Clarifies Ultra Sun And Ultra Moon Is Not Coming To Switch

by Kyle Hilliard on Jun 06, 2017 at 10:41 AM

Rumors began swirling following this morning's Pokémon Direct that the newly announced Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon would be coming to Switch as well as 3DS, but The Pokémon Company has clarified that is not the case.

The Pokémon Company's press site listed the game as also being available for Switch in its platform listing, which is what kicked off the rumor. The Pokémon Company has offered a statement clarifying the "clerical error".

We would like to address rumours based on a clerical error on the Pokémon press site; Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon are coming exclusively to Nintendo 3DS family of systems and are not due for release on Nintendo Switch. This listing on the Pokémon press site was made in error and is not indicative of future plans. Please refer to the Pokémon Direct for more game details.

Our Take
I appreciate The Pokémon Company getting ahead of this rumor, though it is disappointing that the game is not coming to Switch. It really seems like it should, and I think many, myself included, expected that we would see a core Pokémon game coming to Switch this morning.
