Platinum Games Teases New Franchise

by Suriel Vazquez on May 20, 2017 at 02:50 PM

Platinum Games has been doing well in the last few months. Nier: Automata's sales have surpassed one million, and the developer seems confident enough about its older titles to release both Bayonetta and Vanquish on PC. And at this year's BitSummit gaming event, Platinum producer Atushi Inaba teased the existence of a new franchise from the developer.

According to DualShockers, Inaba said the franchise  was "formless, shapeless," revealing little about what the new series would entail. He did, however, mention the IP would be helmed by a new director.

This new franchise would be the first for the studio since 2013's The Wonderful 101. Since then, the studio has worked only on sequels or with other company's series, such as Metal Gear, Transformers, The Legend or Korra, and most recently, Nier.

Our Take
It's good to see Platinum doing well. Although I'm not always a fan of their output, their efforts are rarely boring or without some interesting ideas.
