Update: Project Rap Rabbit is more than just a tease now; the creators have launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for this quirky rhythm game. The goal is set pretty high (over $1 million), but if funding is successful, the title will come to PlayStation 4 and PC (with an Xbox One version set as a stretch goal).

Original Story:

Two rhythm-game pioneers are joining forces in a new game, which is being called Project Rap Rabbit. The idea of a rapping rabbit sounds strange, but considering the people behind it – NanaOn-Sha's Masaya Matsuura (PaRappa the Rapper) and iNis' Keiichi Yano (Gitaroo Man, Elite Beat Agents) – it makes a lot of sense.

There's not much to go on at this point, aside from a teaser site, but it provides a few hints as to what's ahead. There's a feudal Japanese aesthetic, as well as a flying saucer and some kind of motorized scooter. Before you cry foul at the anachronisms, keep in mind that this is a game about a rabbit who wears clothes. And, judging from the title at least, the rabbit also raps.

We'll keep you posted as we learn more about this wonderfully weird game.

Our Take
Even though it doesn't hold up as a game anymore (go to hell, Cheap Cheap the Cooking Chicken!), I have a soft spot for PaRappa. I don't know what to make of the visual style on the teaser site, but if the music's good, I'll at least check out the soundtrack.
