Nintendo says it will offer a "packed week of activities" at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, running between June 13 and 15. Showgoers get their first hands-on time with Super Mario Odyssey, and people who can only attend via the internet can tune in to see new footage of it throughout the week.
Nintendo is kicking off the show with a prerecorded video called the "Nintendo Spotlight" on June 13 at 9 a.m. Pacific. This video offers a look at Nintendo Switch games launch this year. Following the presentation, Nintendo's Treehouse will be streaming live throughout the show with extended looks at a variety of games, including upcoming titles for Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo's booth offers hands-on opportunities with various games, and Splatoon 2 and Arms are the centerpieces of game tournaments hosted and streamed by Nintendo. The 2017 Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational features four pre-qualified squads from the U.S., Japan, Europe, and Australia/New Zealand, and takes place on June 13. The Arms tournament is an open invitational you can tune in to on June 14.
All of the streams will be on Nintendo's E3 website, as well as Twitch and YouTube.
Our Take
Nintendo isn't shaking up its E3 formula much, but the one detail that stands out is Nintendo saying its focus is on "games launching this year." Will we see anything from 2018 or beyond? It doesn't sound like it, unless the Treehouse presentations dive into further announcements.
