Minecraft Marketplace Coming This Spring

by Matthew Kato on Apr 10, 2017 at 10:50 AM

Microsoft is opening a new Minecraft online store selling both user- and Microsoft-created content via Minecraft Coins purchased with real money.

The store is coming to the Pocket and Windows 10 versions of the game, and the content includes skins, textures, and worlds (according to Polygon, mods are not included in the Marketplace). Microsoft is planning to allow purchases to be accessed across your devices via an Xbox Live account.

An Android public beta is coming in mid-April focusing on the coins, but not user-created content. There is no word when the Marketplace will come to consoles.

Our Take
Microsoft says users get a "majority" of the profit from sales, and I hope this is enough to cover the time and effort they put into their creations.
