DayZ Creator's Space MMO Ion Is No Longer In Development

by Matthew Kato on Mar 07, 2017 at 03:45 AM

Ion, a space-survival/MMO by DayZ creator Dean Hall, was announced at Microsoft's E3 2015 press conference, but we haven't heard anything else about the title since. Now it looks like the collaboration between Hall's RocketWerkz studio and SpatialOS engine company Improbable is no longer being worked on.

Eurogamer has confirmation from both Hall and Improbable that neither side is now working on the game, and according to Hall, he hasn't been active with the project since the fall of last year.

"I'd far rather people were pissed off I didn't release something than I release something I wasn't happy with and try to take money from them," said Hall. "That's the most important thing."

Our Take
Elsewhere in the story Hall brings up the point that with development routinely unstable, you have to question when it's appropriate to announce a game in the first place.
