Report: The Switch Sets New 48 Hour Sales Record For A Nintendo Console
It appears that Nintendo's new console is off to a strong start. In fact, it might be the strongest start the company has ever had when it's come to launching hardware.
The New York Times reporter Nick Wingfield says he recently had an interview with Nintendo Of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé and came back with some interesting information, particularly regarding the console's early sales performance:
2. Fri-Sat sales for Nintendo Switch exceeded first 2-day sales in Americas for any system in Nintendo history. Next biggest was Wii.

According to Wingfield, Fils-Aimé also says that The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild is the company's best-selling launch title ever:
4. Zelda for Nintendo Switch the best selling standalone launch title (i.e. not a bundled game a la Wii Sports) in Nintendo history...

Our Take
Since this information is coming from a series of tweets sent out by a reporter for a (albeit very reputable) publication, it might be best to view these statements with a grain of salt. But still, if true, this is pretty big second wind for Nintendo.
Of course, this is only the beginning, so it'll be interesting to see how things play out once The Switch's honeymoon period is over and people are looking to use the console to play something that isn't The Legend of Zelda.
