Minecraft Has Sold Over 121 Million Copies

by Joe Juba on Feb 27, 2017 at 05:40 AM

Minecraft has been a phenomenon for years now, but if you think enthusiasm is flagging, think again. Today Microsoft announced that the freeform survival/building simulation has sold over 121 million copies.

That's a solid jump from the 100 million copies the game had sold as of June 2016. The official Minecraft Twitter account also released an amusing animated image breaking down some of the statistics based on that many users:

That sales figure covers all of the many platforms on which Minecraft is available, but you can check how many of those sales are on PC/Mac here.

Our Take
Minecraft is a lot of fun, is a popular title for streamers, and is still growing after all this time. I can't say that I'm surprised at its success, but I'm happy to see it.
