Nintendo has announced a few details about the eShop in relation to the launch of the Switch on March 3.

The company says that Virtual Console titles won't be available at the system's launch and that more info on them is coming "in the future."

At launch, however, players will be able to access funds in Nintendo accounts on other devices. This is done by linking their Nintendo Network ID and Nintendo account, and then that account to the Switch. Recently there was a report that already purchased games could be re-downloaded to the Switch, but Nintendo hasn't specified this yet.

To access the eShop on the Switch will require a system update which Nintendo says, "downloads in the background, is designed to install quickly and doesn't disrupt gameplay."

Our Take
It's too bad the Switch's online functionality won't be 100 percent at launch, but given the fact that Zelda and other titles will be there, not having Virtual Console titles in the short term shouldn't be a big deal.
