Today during Bonnie Ross' D.I.C.E. speech on the stewardship of the Halo franchise, the 343 Industries general manager made an honest concession about the controversial decision to remove split-screen in Halo 5.

"When we didn't put split screen in Halo 5, it was incredibly painful for the community and for us," she said. "I think it erodes trust with the community, as the community is a part of our world building."

Originally, Xbox head Phil Spencer said the decision to remove split screen was done because a "vast majority" of players were playing cooperatively over Xbox Live, not locally. That didn't stop the community from widely decrying the decision.

Ross ended her talk by saying something every Halo fan wants to hear. "For any FPS, we will always have split screen support going forward," she said.
