Weekend Warrior – Sunshine, Lollipops, And Vikings

by Manon Hume on Feb 17, 2017 at 01:00 PM

Valentine's Day was exciting this year not just for the candy comas and bouquets of flowers, but for the release of For Honor, Sniper Elite 4, and Deformers. As if the entire office getting hooked on the medieval brawler wasn't enough this week, 80 new Pokémon went live on Go, Ubisoft announced the Ghost Recon Wildlands open beta, and the weather in Minneapolis went from Midwest winter to Florida winter out of nowhere! With great game after great game already coming out this year, it's tempting to stay inside playing all day, but the sun beckons... Tell us about your weekend plans, indoor or outdoor, in the comments section below.

Brian Shea (@BrianPShea) – This weekend, the weather is looking unseasonably warm here in Minnesota, so I’ll be enjoying the new update in Pokémon Go. When I’m not falling down hills trying to catch imaginary creatures, I’ll be continuing For Honor and Yakuza 0. Of course, I’ll also find plenty of time to play Overwatch.

Jeff Cork (@gijeff) – I’ve spent the past week playing For Honor, so I think I’m going to take a break and… play some more For Honor. I’m having a lot of fun with it, despite of some serious matchmaking/network issues. I also need to spend a couple of hours with Overwatch, so I don’t miss out on those free loot boxes. Other than that, I’m going to watch that Lego Batman movie and maybe even (GASP!) go outside and see what that whole thing’s all about. CRAZY!

Andrew Reiner (@Andrew_Reiner) – I'm playing board games all weekend with a group of friends. We're far removed from society, but the gen two Pokémon are plentiful. In other words, I'm a happy camper.

Suriel Vazquez (@SurielVasquez) – For Honor has its hooks into me deep, so I’m going to try to get through the story mode this weekend between multiplayer matches. I might try out the Brawl mode just to get better the game’s core combat, since Dominion mode makes it a bit harder to focus on a single opponent. I also plan on getting in some more Tekken Tag Tournament 2, since I’m really liking the Fight Lab mode as a way to teach novices the game. Finally, I’m still making my way through Link’s Awakening DX, even if I’m not as high on it as I was last week.

Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard) – I'll probably just be catching up on some old games this weekend and cleaning. I will, definitely be making time to play some Pokémon Go, however. The fever has already returned (though it never really left for me) and it’s exciting to see black silhouettes of mysterious new Pokémon on my radar for the first time in months.

Manon Hume (@ManonHume) – Praise the sun! Thanks to this beautiful weather, I’m planning to spend my days exploring the city catching Pokémon and my evenings catching up with friends. I’m also still plugging away at my backlog of games, which gets longer every week… Great problem to have, right?

Zak Wojnar (@ZakWojnar) – I’ll be doing my best to devour Final Fantasy XIV. It was on sale for $9.99 this week, and I want to make the most of my 30 free days and get as far as I can in the main story before I have to start plunking down a monthly fee. I’m really not a monthly fee kind of guy. I know there’s pretty much no way I can conquer the entire critical path in that time, but I aim to give it my best shot. I’m loving Yakuza 0 so far (Goro Majima has one of my favorite character introductions EVER!), so I’m not giving that up entirely, but I’m all about Final Fantasy XIV for the time being.
