Weekend Warrior – You've Got Your Big Game, I've Got Mine

by Zak Wojnar on Feb 03, 2017 at 01:00 PM

The New England Patriots are taking on the Atlanta Falcons in Superbowl LI on Sunday, so sports fans have a lot to look forward to. Will Tom Brady go out on top? Or will Atlanta win in a shocking upset? Is this all just a meaningless distraction from the serious issues of today's troubled times? Go sports!

At the very least, the Super Bowl is a great excuse for shoving a ton of potato chips and buffalo wings down our throats. Plus, the premiere of 24: Legacy airs immediately after the game. Between the game, the show, and the commercials, there's a little something for everyone. Let's take a look at what some of Game Informer's editors and interns will be up to during this weekend, and feel free to share your own plans in the comments below!

Suriel Vasquez (@SurielVasquez) – I was able to complete my first Destiny raid this week, and I’m hoping I’ll be able to finish another this weekend. That said, I’m getting to the point (365 light) where It’s going to be harder to marathon the game, so I’ll have to stick to more daily/weekly activities for a bit. I’m also planning to play as much Resident Evil 7 as I can before Nioh comes out and I can finally play it for myself.

Brian Shea (@BrianPShea) – This weekend, I'll be continuing my playthrough of Yakuza 0, which has been an odd delight from the start. I'm also thinking about getting into a little Madden since it's probably the last weekend I'll feel like doing so until next season. When I'm not doing that, I'll likely keep myself entertained with A Link to the Past on 3DS and Overwatch

Ben Hanson (@yozetty) – This weekend I’m really hoping to take advantage of Rainbow Six Siege’s free weekend on PS4 with some friends, I was fascinated by that game when it came out but it was too difficult to convince people to buy it. Now’s your chance! Other than that, I might play through Yoshi’s Woolly World again now that it’s on 3DS. I’m also really looking forward to eating a bunch of terrible food and drinking beer and watching the Super Bowl on Sunday. Have a good weekend!

Kim Wallace (@kstar1785) – I haven't had great luck with loot boxes lately in Overwatch's latest event. I don't know what it is, but I get three duplicates in almost every box I open. Maybe this is a sign I play the game too much, haha. But, I really want to get Zenyatta's Lunar New Year skin, so I'm going to keep at it. Other than that, I just feel behind, and I want to wrap up a lot of games before the end of February hits, since that's when Horizon Zero Dawn comes out, and then I'll have The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mass Effect Andromeda. That means I really need to make progress on Yakuza 0 and Resident Evil 7. Basically, I'm a bum and I'm living on my couch this weekend.

Manon Hume (@ManonHume) – I’m a little under the weather, so I plan to stay in this weekend finishing Inside and finally picking up The Last Guardian after that twenty-dollar price cut. No better way to fight off a cold than with video games! :)

Jordan Leendertsen (@Bad_Durandal) – This weekend will be a busy one for me. While I'm still going to be waiting a few days to get my mitts on Nioh, I have plenty to keep me busy in the meantime. In my immediate future, I see playing through Resident Evil 7 for a 4th and 5th time, as well as digging deeper into Yakuza 0. Also, somewhere I know I'll find time to grind out some loot boxes in Overwatch, even if Capture the Rooster is the worst thing since Bastion's beta shield.

Zak Wojnar (@ZakWojnar) – Now that I've conquered the long dark night of Resident Evil 7 (in about 9 hours and with 19 retries), I'm ready to start on Yakuza 0. I was initially planning on tackling my backlog and begin chipping away at Metro Redux and Assassin's Creed IV, but thanks to my roomie and fellow intern Jordan buying all the hot new titles, I figure I might as well indulge in some of 2017's biggest releases while I can! If and when my schedule lines up with that of my brother, Jason (great guy), we might put aside some time to play Star Wars: Battlefront or The Crew online.
