ZeniMax Purchases Escalation Studios

by Kyle Hilliard on Feb 01, 2017 at 03:00 AM

ZeniMax recently purchased Escalation Studios, placing it under its umbrella of developers like id and Bethesda.

Escalation Studios is known predominantly for assisting other developers, like it did for id on the development of 2016's Doom. It also developed the VR game Please Don't Touch Anything and the port of the classic Dreamcast rhythm game, Samba de Amigo, to the Wii in 2008.

ZeniMax already has the studio working on PC, console, mobile, and VR projects, but had nothing specific to announce.

Our Take
Escalation is a busy behind-the-scenes developer, but maybe being owned by ZeniMax will give them a chance to step into the spotlight with something original, or lone developer status on one of ZeniMax's franchises.
