Reader Discussion – How Do You Feel About The Switch?

by Suriel Vazquez on Jan 14, 2017 at 11:30 AM

Okay, so we have a better picture of what the Switch will end up being. We know the basics. We have a good idea of what Nintendo's first-year lineup for the console looks like. Here at Game Informer, we've talked about it, got our hands on it, and played Breath of the Wild, what looks to be the only standout title in the launch lineup.

How do we all feel? For me, it's complicated. I was probably going to get one for work anyway, but I think even if it wasn't part of my job, I still would have stayed up way too late waiting for pre-order pages to load. I really only need one game to tide me over until the next comes, and Zelda looks like it will do that just fine. But, I can't say I'm a little disappointed by the lineup the features otherwise. The joycons don't look fun to hold, the Pro Controller is a bit overpriced, and, I'm still concerned that it will once again be up to Nintendo to make sure I'll have something to play on the thing regularly, which hasn't worked out as well for the company in recent years. I was this close to being on board with Nintendo's paid online service until I saw that you won't be able to keep the NES and SNES games the service offers for free.

But I'd be lying if I didn't say that I'm excited simply by the idea of new hardware from Nintendo, something to tinker with for a couple hours the day it comes out. And I'm also excited about getting another round of Nintendo exclusives, which typically have a good track record. So I'm getting one. But I hope I don't regret it by the end of the year.

How do you feel, readers? Already have your pre-order all snatched up? Refreshing every store page you can find waiting for one? Are you all about ARMS? Sitting this one out until Suda 51 unveils his game for it? Let us know in the comments.
