Hudson's demolitions expert is coming to the Nintendo Switch, complete with 8-player competitive multiplayer and a co-op story mode.

Nintendo showed off Super Bomberman R's story mode during its Treehouse livestream, which features drop-in/drop-out co-op support. While the series has been upgraded with 3D visuals, the gameplay sticks to the traditional 2D layout. This includes the story mode, which features a series of 2D grids that different enemies wander around. Players will pick up power, speed, and bomb power-ups that carry over between levels, while environmental objects like bomb-attracting magnets vary up the challenges. Based on the trailer below, players will also go head-to-head with different bosses as well.

Super Bomberman R also features traditional 8-player competitive multiplayer across a variety of stages. The stage shown during the demo featured four circular domes that players could walk underneath, hiding them (and their bombs) from opponents. Those who get blown out of the match can still have their revenge by periodically lobbing bombs from the sidelines. See the game for yourself in the trailer below.

Super Bomberman R is a launch title for the Nintendo Switch, and as such will be available on March 3.
