What To Watch This Weekend: Games Done Quick, Overwatch, And Street Fighter III: Third Strike
Back from holiday break, finally? Ready to back into the swing of things in work, school, or play? Good. You're going to need to be to take on the year. To help ease you into it, there's quite a lot to watch this weekend.
The annual Awesome Games Done Quick kicks off tomorrow at around 11am, which should give you something to have on in the background for an entire week while you realize you're more behind on things than you realized during your year-end break. (Stream / Schedule)
In the world of fighting games, we have two events: The Kumite In Tennessee, which will be the first big tournament of the year in the second season of Street Fighter V, but will also have events for other big games like Mortal Kombat XL, Super Smash Bros., and The King of Fighters. If you want some classic fighting game action instead, Japan's Cooperation Cup will have five-player Street Fighter III: Third Strike teams face off in a single-elimination bracket. The event will be streamed on Japan time, but you can catch most of the tournament in English starting at around 7pm Central. (Stream)
If you still can't get enough Overwatch, you can watch the Blizzard-sanctioned Winter Premiere, in which teams like Complexity, Team Liquid, and Faze Clan will compete for a $100,000 prize pool (possibly with less D.Va than you might be used to). (Stream / Schedule)
Dota 2 will be having its big ESL One tournament in Genting this weekend, and if you're still baffled by all the changes in the game's 7.00 (and subsequent 7.01) patch, you can watch the pros figure it out live. (Stream / Schedule)
