Planet Coaster Dev Suing Atari
Frontier Development, the studio that worked on RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 and other titles for Atari, and which has also created Elite: Dangerous (above), is suing old publisher partner Atari for that company's allegedly not paying Frontier $2.2 million in royalties.
TMZ reports that Frontier believes Atari is reporting lower sales figures and that Atari has delayed its sales report audit.
Eurogamer has a statement from Frontier that reads: "We can confirm Frontier is currently pursuing a complaint against Atari. We have attempted to resolve this issue without legal action since April 2016. We have so far been denied our contractual right to audit by Atari, and we are unfortunately left with no other way to resolve our concerns. We are unable to offer any further comment while the matter is subject to due legal process."

To me this brings to mind the topic of transparent sales data, which for the media/public there is none. For developers and publishers, however, this need is heightened given that money and people's livelihoods are possibly at stake.
