Nintendo is planning to give more details about the Nintendo Switch console before it comes out by March of next year, but a new report may have divulged one particular bit: According to multiple sources, the Switch can play GameCube games via the Virtual Console service.

Eurogamer has "three separate sources" that attest to this functionality. Moreover, three titles are already ready: Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, and Super Smash Bros. Melee. The GameCube's Animal Crossing is also a possibility, according to Eurogamer.

The site also says it has heard that there "should" be an update program whereby users will be able to upgrade previous Virtual Console purchases for use on the Switch instead of having to buy the games again.
