Reader Discussion – Who Do You Have To Thank For Your Love Of Gaming?

by Matt Miller on Nov 25, 2016 at 04:00 AM

Even during challenging or contentious times, Americans look at the Thanksgiving weekend as an opportunity to be grateful for the good things they have in life. For those of us who are gamers, that includes our good fortune to have found a hobby that brings with it rich and imaginative stories, online friendships, memorable moments, stunning worlds, and fierce competition. We want to know who you have to thank for your love of the hobby, and how that individual was or is a part of your life. Who introduced you to games, and how has that sharing affected your life in the years since?

Did your mother or father give you a first beloved console as a Christmas present? Did your best friend in high school get you into the genre that finally drew you into the fold? Maybe you have fond memories of cooperative adventures with your brother? Or perhaps your college girlfriend showed you that indie game that finally convinced you that gaming was worth your time?

Share your story of the early relationships that shaped your gaming life in the comments below!
