Blizzard Job Listings Point At Unannounced First-Person Game

by Michael Leri on Nov 22, 2016 at 07:40 AM

According to a few job listings, Blizzard is recruiting for "work on a robust first-person engine for an unannounced project." Details are sparse outside of that.

The listings for lead software engineer positions (one for engine and one for tools) are vague, but state the game will appear on "multiple platforms" and requires experience from "first-person or other action-oriented games."

Overwatch, Blizzard's first first-person game, has seen a lot of commercial and critical success along with a steady flow of new characters and maps. Whether or not this position is related to or inspired by Overwatch remains to be seen.

Our Take
While this could be some unannounced game that we don't know about, it could also be related to Overwatch. Maybe a single-player campaign? Who knows, and as the closures of the StarCraft Ghost and Titan projects demonstrated, and who knows if we will ever see it?
