Rumor: Nintendo Switch To Get Its Own Version Of Pokémon Sun & Moon

by Kimberley Wallace on Nov 18, 2016 at 09:38 AM

On the heels of Pokémon Sun & Moon's launch, Eurogamer is reporting the Nintendo Switch is getting a version of the game codenamed Pokémon Stars. Eurogamer says multiple (unnamed) sources confirmed the game is "well into development and will launch in 2017."

The report claims that Pokémon Stars is being developed by the Sun & Moon team at Game Freak, would have expanded features, and allow trading with the newest 3DS games. It's said to use the same map and cities as Pokémon Sun & Moon as well, but you expect higher resolution on the Switch.

If true, this would be the first time the same generation of a Pokémon game would span multiple consoles, and it would also be the first mainline Pokémon game to hit a home console.

We'll update this story should we be able to confirm this information. You can find out more by visiting Eurogamer by clicking the link below.

Our Take
This doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility, but Game Informer cannot confirm this information at this time. While Eurogamer says it has multiple sources, we do not know who these sources are. People have been pinning for a Pokémon on home console for some time now, and with more news on the Nintendo Switch people have been hoping this is the time. We'll just have to wait and see.
