Select Content For Red Dead Redemption 2 Comes First To PlayStation 4

by Elise Favis on Oct 20, 2016 at 06:22 AM

Earlier today, we got the first glimpse of what awaits us in Red Dead Redemption 2, which is set to launch next year on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Now, Sony has announced on the PlayStation Blog that it has established a partnership with Rockstar Games so that select online content will arrive first for PlayStation 4 players, along with the critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption coming to PlayStation Now.

"The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience," writes Sony.

You can watch the first trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 by heading here, and read about what we hope will be coming to the new entry here.

Our Take
It's unclear exactly how substantial this online content will be, and since it's still early on, details are slim. The good news is that this is not exclusive, but instead just coming first to PlayStation 4 owners. Unless Microsoft also has a similar plan in the works, this news could make PlayStation 4 the preferred platform for many potential players. As for the PlayStation Now, this is favorable news for those that use the service, though I never play shooter-based games much on it, given the at times sluggish play that is dependent on my internet connection.
