Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 Delayed Until April

by Jeff Cork on Oct 17, 2016 at 07:45 AM

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 won't be hitting its original January launch target. CI Games announced that the game is being delayed until April, to account for additional polish and overall optimization.

The game is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and CI Games' CEO Marek Tyminski says the studio is working to ensure that it performs well across the board. “Our goal is to ensure Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 runs smoothly on all platforms, and right now we still have some important work left on optimizing the game," Tyminski wrote on a blog post for the game. "This is our biggest project we’ve ever worked on and the entire team is pushing really hard to make the entire experience more polished. I really hope everyone will understand our decision and will wait the extra time to play something we’re excited about, and that will redefine our IP and the sniping genre as a whole. This is a new beginning for the Sniper: Ghost Warrior franchise.”

The game is now set for an April 4, 2017, release.

Our Take
PC performance can vary wildly from game to game, which is a source of continued frustration. It's great to see a developer acknowledge that work needs to be done and take the unpopular step of delaying the game, rather than frame-locking it and telling players to wait for a patch.
