Satoru Iwata was a man beloved by the gaming world due to his unwavering passion for both the industry and video games. Most of his accomplishments are well known, but YouTube trivia channel Did You Know Gaming has recently released a comprehensive video that pays homage to his successes within the video game industry as former Nintendo president, and as a game developer.

Last year in July, Iwata passed away at the age of 55 from complications after a battle with cancer, but his legacy remains very much alive in the world of video games. Earlier this year at the Game Developers Conference, a heartwarming short film paid tribute to Iwata's life's work.

Did You Know Gaming's incredibly detailed homage can be viewed below, which looks at his beginnings as a game programmer, and how he became one of the most influential faces of the video game industry. He has worked on games such as Balloon Fight, EarthBound, and several Kirby titles. He began working at HAL Laboratory, and assumed the role of president there in 1993. By the year 2000, he moved to Nintendo, and made the shift all the way up to president in 2002 when he was hand-picked as Hiroshi Yamauchi's successor.
