What To Watch This Weekend: Southern California, Hearthstone, And Rocket League

by Suriel Vazquez on Oct 15, 2016 at 05:30 AM

If you're the kind of player who likes to dedicate themselves to a single game, this has to be the most tempting time of the year. There are a number of new releases vying for your attention (Gears of War 4, Mafia III, etc.), and there are only going to be more throughout the month. But if you're still plugging away at your favorite shooter, MOBA, or radio-controlled car soccer sim, there's plenty of events to watch this weekend.

This week features two major stops on the Capcom Pro Tour: The Southern California Regionals (Stream / Schedule), which will offer one more spot to qualify for the Capcom Cup and feature a number of prominent fighting game players. And in Europe, the Regional Finals will take place at the Milan Games Week event, where fourteen players who've earned spots from other qualifiers (joined by two additional players from a last-chance qualifier) will vie for an extra spot at Capcom Cup. (Stream / Schedule)

There are also two fairly large Hearthstone tournaments this weekend. First, we have the Kinguin for Charity tournament (Stream / Schedule), and the Americas Last Call Invitational (Stream / Schedule)

The Rocket League Championship Series continues this week, with teams from North American and Europe fighting for top placement in the coming playoffs. You can watch North American matches today, and European matches tomorrow. (Stream / Schedule)

The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive eSports Championship Series' second season is also going on this weekend, with teams from Europe and North American fighting it out all weekend. (Stream / Schedule)

If you can pull yourself away from the game's new Halloween mode and costumes, Overwatch will also have its share of competing tournaments: The first season of the APEX series (Stream / Schedule), as well as the APAC Premier. (Stream / Schedule)

Of course, The League of Legends Worlds Championship is also going on all week, so you can continue to watch the matches and build up hype for the finals at the end of the month. (Stream / Schedule)

Finally, if you're up for some StarCraft II today, you can watch the monthly ShoutCraft invitational tournament, in which king-of-the-hill format has pros playing until they lose. (Stream / Schedule)

That's it for this weekend! As always, feel free to mention any tournaments we missed in the comments below. Happy watching!
