Learn The Nuances of BioShock's Fort Frolic In Latest Game Maker's Toolkit Video

by Suriel Vazquez on Oct 15, 2016 at 01:45 PM

On the first half of our BioShock Game Club discussion, we spent quite a while discussing Fort Frolic, one of the game's most memorable, creepy, and outstanding areas. If you were to ask most people what area they remember most fondly, I'd be willing to bet most people would pick this one.

As it turns out, there are several reasons why. The latest Game Maker's Toolkit highlights some of the design nuances that make the area so powerful. For one, the area is entirely isolated from the rest of the game, forcing you to consider it separately. Cohen marks his territory thoroughly, making it clear you never forget who you're dealing with (and working for) while in Fort Frolic.

The video (below) is incredibly thorough about pointing out specific points, and if you're looking for more discussion of BioShock after our Game Club, this is a great place to start.
