Reader Discussion: What's The Best Open World In A Game

by Ben Reeves on Oct 06, 2016 at 03:06 PM

Mafia III comes out tomorrow, and it got me thinking that I'm really in the mood for a good open world experience. More and more games seem to be going open world, which isn't too surprising since open worlds offer players a lot of freedom that more linear experiences don't provide. Out of all the worlds you've hiked, driven, or horsed your way across, which one was your favorite?

Maybe you’re a GTA player, and you love exploring the crime-ridden streets of a city rich with various activities. Or maybe fantasy worlds with a touch of grit like the one in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are more your style. Then again maybe you like the post-apocalyptic vibe of games like Fallout 4 or Mad Max. Or maybe you love the creative freedom of games like Minecraft. Personally, I really like the setting and atmosphere of Red Dead Redemption. I loved exploring the old west on my horse and gunning down outlaws.

What about you? What open world memories do you cherish the most? Share you thoughts in the comments below.
