Major League Hacking Hosting Watch Dogs 2-Themed Event

by Suriel Vazquez on Sep 15, 2016 at 03:41 PM

As Elise Favis noted in her preview of the game from E3 of this year, Watch Dogs 2 puts a bigger emphasis on hacking than its predecessor. To celebrate the world of hacking (in controlled environments, of course), student hacking league Major League Hacking is partnering with Ubisoft to host a series of hackathons based on the game for its Fall 2016 season.

Major League Hacking hosts hackathons, events that help aspiring programmers test and develop their programming skills by presenting them with challenge problems requiring creative solutions. For their Watch Dogs 2 events, the league will focus on mobile cybersecurity.  "In the spirit of Watch Dogs 2, students at MLH events will be challenged to design a project to demonstrate just how easy data privacy can be compromised on real-life smart devices," reads Major League Hacking's blog. The winning team will receive one copy of Watch Dogs 2 per member.

Major League Hacking has also created a capture-the-flag style challenge students can play on their own, and will also host a smaller event for this challenge at each hackathon, the winner of which will also receive a copy of Watch Dogs 2. Once the season is over, the person with the fastest aggregate times will win a trip to Ubisoft Montreal.
