EA Sports Announces NHL Rewards Program

by Matt Bertz on Aug 10, 2016 at 06:00 AM

Today EA Sports announced a new promotion program based around its NHL hockey series.

In exchange for agreeing to receive emails from EA regarding the latest NHL series news, trailers, and announcements, fans who sign up for this free service get a free premium player pack for NHL 16's Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT) mode provided they sign up before August 14, a 10 percent discount on all gear from the NHL Shop, and the chance to win the NHL 17 Superfan sweepstakes. The winner gets his or her real-life likeness scanned into the game, and will appear as a spectator in the arena of his or her favorite team.

EA says fans can look forward to more HUT perks and other prizes for those who sign up for the free program. If you want to enlist, head here.

Our Take
Direct to consumer marketing is all the rage right now, and this appears to be a move by EA to get more people on the mailing list for its NHL series. Getting more people to try HUT is also not a bad move for the company considering Ultimate Team spending across the EA Sports library earned the company about $650 million last year.
